To say that I was excited when Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was announced would be an understatement. There was a lot to catch up on, but once we were past the initial awkwardness, it was just like the good ol’ days. When Xenoblade Chronicles 2 launched, it felt like I was hanging out with a friend that I hadn’t seen in years. There aren’t many games that I stick with for more than 30 hours, let alone 100, so it says something that I’ve played the entire game twice. And I count myself among its loyal fans.Įven with its hit-or-miss voice acting - or possibly because of it - I fell in love with Shulk and the crew of the original Xenoblade Chronicles. Despite that, the series has managed to find a sizable audience. It goes against every Nintendo design principle with long cutscenes, unintuitive systems and controls, and adult themes. Xenoblade Chronicles has always felt like a strange fit in the Nintendo first-party catalogue.
